Innovation and staying at the forefront of technology in the civil works space is part of what we do. Concrete Canvas, which is also referred to as Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Matting, or GCCM is one such innovation.
Advanced Environmental Services is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading installation services providers of Concrete Canvas and other GCCMs. One of the key benefits of GCCMs is the portability of the materials and needing minimal plant for installation. Over the years we have coordinated the remote deployment of our expert installation teams to sites as diverse as the Curtis Island LNG projects, major road infrastructure works including W2B and Australian Defence Force projects in Tasmania, NSW, NT and Qld among many others.
GCCMs consist of a 3-dimensional fibre matrix containing a specially formulated dry concrete mix. A PVC backing on one surface of the product ensures the material is impervious once installed correctly. Concrete Canvas is then hydrated by either spraying or full immersion in fresh or salt water. Once set, the fibres reinforce the concrete, preventing crack propagation and providing a thin, durable, waterproof and low-carbon concrete layer.
Concrete Canvas is available in 3 thicknesses: CC5, CC8 and CC13, which are respectively 5, 8 and 13mm thick. Other GCCMs are available in varying thickness grades based on the intended application.
